RABJJ Academy seeks to strengthen the  Hamilton and Mercer NJ communities through the diligent practice of the Gentle Art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. We offer classes to all levels. Kids(5-8 years old), Teens(9-14 years old) and Adult classes.

RABJJ began in 1997 when Professor Ricardo Almeida moved from Brazil to New Jersey to be an assistant instructor at the Renzo Gracie Academy.

Professor Almeida currently has the rank of 3rd Degree Black Belt and is the highest ranked student under legendary Renzo Gracie.

The RABJJ Academy has graduated more Black belts than any other school in the region, producing multiple Jiu Jitsu World Champions and world class Jiu Jitsu Instructors who now teach at their own schools.

Professor expertise transcends Gracie Jiu jitsu into Mixed Martial Arts, he is a veteran from UFC and Pride FC and recently retired from mixed martial arts.

UFC Light Weight Champion Frankie Edgar has trained at RABJJ since 2008 and currently holds a rank of Brown Belt in BJJ. Professor Almeida is honoured to have been a part of Frankie's path from contender to Champion.

Recently retired from mixed martial arts competition, Professor Ricardo Almeida is also a certified Judge for the New Jersey Sate Athletic Control Board.

Autism is a general term that is used to describe a group of complex developmental brain disorders that parents and professionals refer to as Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Today it is estimated that one in every 110 children are diagnosed with autism, making it more prevalent than the combination of childhood cancer, juvenile diabetes, and pediatric AIDS. In the United States alone an estimated 1.5 million individuals are living with this condition. Research completed by the US Government shows that the appearance of the disorder is increasing by 10 to 17 percent each year.

Autism Spectrum Disorder is a condition that has affected our Professor Almeida right at home. His son Renzo was diagnosed with the condition in 2008. Since that time Professor Almeida and his family have been very active in spreading awareness of this condition that affects so many of our children.

In support of continued Autism research, The Ricardo Almeida Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy is proud to announce that we will hold our first “Run for Autism” program. Academy students will run a combined 110 miles to represent the children who are affected with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The Academy will raise money for Autism Speaks through the selling of limited edition RABJJ T-shirts.
